Training Review
Attendance Absentees
Scott:couldnt wake up,overslept
Jeremy:still missing.
Dom:high fever
Aaron:leg fracture

started off with a run today followed by 7km distance paddling and just 4 sets of 500m. very interesting 4 sets though. just forget about the bad stuff and try to improve on what we can ya. :)

so today's 31st August 2008, which is also the Nike human Race day.
it was super crowded before the race started and the number of people in the Nike tee was super alot, it was even hard to tell who is your friend if he's 5m into the crowd. the run was quite fun though, waited for each other and had hell a lot of water at every water point. and had 3 cans of 100plus at the end point. haha, didnt know that those who finish with shawn(big) didnt have any 100plus left cause they ran out of it. i thought they had unlimited supply though. sorry bout drinking down so many cans. haha. i think pictures who have been a better way of relating about the race, but i didnt bring my phone along for the run, it was in my bag in yuan feng's place. we left our bags there and walk to the race start point and from the end point we walked back to his place. all in all, im sure all of us had fun.

monster training starts tomorrow. i hope i can get the best out of it. :)

i just talked to jeremy a moment ago, and he's taking a break from training and stuff. oh well. from my experience of 3 years in the team, you got to learn to part with even your closest friends, cause thats the nature of this sport. i still hope they would come back someday and help the team though, i probably wont be around by then but i would still want the team to reach even high heights.

the finisher bracelet thing they give after completion
i hope you're doing fine.

Quality Time with mom.

Training Review.
Attendance absentees:
Charles - had something personal to do.
Scott - had something on
Fit Shaun - missing probably had food poisoning
Aaron -Leg fracture
Dominic - High fever, suspected Dengue
Jeremy(fats) - missing.

well.. everyone counts, as we are a small team already.
cant fault them for the reasons above i guess? except for the missing ones at least i hope they would at least explain to me why they are not coming or why they did not come,if they still respect me as captain.

Juniors are improving! paced for them for the 6km, could feel a rather good glide for the first 3km but the next 3km they did farely well too. They've got quite a good attitude and im really proud of them.

during the 5 x 400m sets, the seniors didnt really pull away far from them too. so... great job guys.

after training i decided to spend some quality time with mom. and she sure did spend quality money on me. haha!

Bought 2 fox tees, one arena singlet, one Billabong tee and broad shorts. :) thanks mom!
went for dinner then back home to slack and enjoy the rest of this nice Saturday without studying.

think about it.

(once again im sorry for the fun readers,if theres any.)haha!

7hrs/24hrs of this day. i was asleep.

yupp.. 4.50am. Time to wake up and get going.

I've got to leave my place at about 5.15am so that i would be able to reach Macritche Reservoir by bout 6.40am?Kayaking Training over there usually starts at about 7am. But its always better to be earlier! for Pasir Ris folks if you wanna get to Mac, you can take 53 then change to bus 156 at Serangoon.

Today's Training Programme
8 x 1000m

Haha. the funny part was we thought it was 1000m sprint, easy back up to 1000m mark and sprint down again.that would hit a total of 16km. But coach idea was only 1000m sprint down rest for 2min and sprint up again.we were doing what we thought was correct until about the 3rd set. haha.

" Like that is a total of 16km!!! how can it be?"

haha. i was thinking, why not? anything is possible from coach.
no matter whats the plan.just shut up and do it. :)

C-1 Flatwater.

After the 8x1000m today, i was slacking at pontoon waiting for the rest to finish the programme. and coach allowed me to try the C boat (below, different model though) today! total madness. haha. but it was a good experience the boat felt light, would be much nicer to use than a T boat. But i capsized with the first few(one) stroke(s). went to try on a SP T boat, manged to balance and stuff. i would definitely want to get on that C boat again.

After all that, went to discuss training programme with coach.

For other fun people viewing my blog. Thanks, but sorry to bore you with all my boring stuff day in and out. However if you still constantly view my boring blog. i just want you to know that it is very much appreciated. haha! maybe you can share some fun stuff with me!

i slept the whole fucking day away from 12-7pm after i got home, to make up for the lack of sleep during exams. :)

for all those that ended thier exams today. HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
i havent got over you.

Finally done with it.

9am - 11am
Fixed Income Analysis BA2091
(LAST PAPER!)

got it done and over with, although there's a lot of uncertain answers and plus some of my own nonsense inside the paper. But im just glad its over :)

Okay, lets see what should you do after your paper?

i couldn't think of anything else to do except to train.(not very normal but yea)
and so i did.
walked past the swimming pool while coming down from business blocks and i saw khim and pam inside. And thus i asked pam to wait for me to finish gym, when she started at 930.

Today's Programme
4 set 15 8 stations.

i ended at about 1230, showered then went with lunch with pam and denise, bumped into yunsinn and Zak at Fc3. FIRST TIME AFTER SUPER LONG,i could just slack after eating and not rush off to study. feels damn good to just slack though.

At about 230, i left school for my favourite place, Kallang. haha! yeah. i went there alone and borrowed a Kayak from team NUS to practice on my C-stroke. just rowed out to sheares bridge. rested at the beach for awhile and rowed back to the pontoon.

(C stroke also known as the Canadian stroke, is the stroke used to paddle in a C boat.a C boat being a canoe paddled with a kneeling stance and a mega super long dragonboat look a like paddle.but i kneeled in a T boat to practice though)

After paddling, i went for a run! hahah. usual route from SDBA to under sheares bridge.

ended the day with Kenny rogers dinner with my sis. just some bread thingy with garden pasta and potato salad.but it was dam fucking filling. visited Michael at mowi, where i got a Waikiki and then i slacked even more, while michael had to study. (no offence man)

yup. thats what i did after my papers. not very interesting. i know. thats my life :)

if you want to be at the top, you got to train hard, theres no other shortcut.

Stretching the number of hours one can have in one day

Woke up at 8.30am today. its super late for a normal day. FIA(Fixed Income analysis) exam is tomorrow and i am still not done studying with it. probably left with about 8 more chapters. Not looking very well for me at the moment especially when the papers is at nine on Thursday morning. ,

but i know i have to run.(on the very least)

Run Route House(Pasir Ris st 11(loyang ave)) to Tampines Flyover through Tampines back home.

Although it exams period and stuff but we got to work with our training programmes and not just skipp it totally. 24hours a day. just taking maybe a total of one hour to run seems fair right? You cant possibly study the whole day, so just take time to run from the time that you're supposed to rest?(although i know jaslyn studies almost 24hours a day)
Try to enjoy the run instead of dreading it. Fastest way to not procrastinate just put on your shoes and Go.

Rest of the day is spent studying at maui wowi Suntec. Exams ends at 11am Thursday 28/08/08. Holiday begins 11.01am Thursday 28/08/08. If it all goes well. I would be left with just one more semester in Singapore Polytechnic.

2 weeks into holidays and it would be my secondly last race for SP before my term ends.

"when you guys are ready to row again, with your hearts this time round, you know that i have always been ready to lead.we may have fallen, but only then will we be able to rise again. we came from nothing we are back to nothing, but you know we can be something, there is a choice. There is always hope, only for the ones that are hopeful.believe in ourselves. There is only so much i can do because i am just one man, where my strength would count for nothing in the boat without you guys. I can show you the path, i can walk that path, but i cant make you follow me if you dont want to. Once again, the choice is yours. yours alone. one stroke, one heart."

For what its worth.

The idea of this blog is to hopefully inspire my teammates and others out there who wants to be somebody in life.

My name is Mingxiang, as the name suggests, im nothing more then just a typical Chinese boy. What you are about to expect from this whole blog issue may be of very very boring events that occurred in my life.Just like many others, i want to be a somebody in my life. However, my life may not be as colourful or as fun as yours, but i would still want to share it with the world and to inspire some and to be inspired by others as well.

Paddling-summarizes about 90% of my life. I've been doing Dragonboating for the past coming 3 years and recently started a little on kayaking (t1). I enjoy paddling, learning how to catch every stroke and making the most out of every effort driven into the water, pushing myself to the limits day in and out.I will never forget whatever that i've been through when i first started the sport and all those friends that have trained hard alongside me until today. For they have played a role in my story like how i have been part of thiers. Being greatly motivated by my coach,Mr John Goh Poh Soon, i am determined to be a better paddler. For i am my own worst enemy.

I wished i was a machine, only then i can just keep going and going, with no pain, fear, sorrows and any other human emotions that i would be vulnerable to. That was how i came up with the name for this blog.

"Is it worth it?" a very popular question asked by many regarding my way of life. i leave it to you to judge.
to you i maybe a no lifer.
but all that is taken away from this would be part of me which i know i will never forget.
